The United Way of Forsyth County has a longstanding philosophy against coercive solicitation in its annual fund raising campaign.
The foundation of United Way fund raising is its voluntary nature: individuals supporting the campaign by voluntarily donating their time to plan, manage and implement the campaign; and individuals extending their support through the voluntary giving of their dollars.
The United Way of Forsyth Countys volunteer Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet believe that the most responsive contributors are those who have the opportunity to become well informed and involved. Well-planned campaigns, with effective education and communications programs conducted by committed volunteers, will ensure responsive contributors.
It is the belief of the United Way of Forsyth Countys Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet that:
-
Giving is a personal matter. Whether an individual wishes to give and how much he or she wishes to give are personal decisions; and
-
No form of coercion is acceptable, particularly that which includes any stated or implied effect on the status of personal employment or economics.
The United Way of Forsyth County will vigorously endeavor to inform and train all campaign volunteers and staff to adhere to the principle of voluntary giving, and will work to eliminate all forms of pressure or coercion in its fund raising efforts.
