Forsyth Free Tax is a part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in which qualified volunteers prepare taxes for free for people making $54,000 a year or less. EITC and VITA are vital asset building tools that help low-moderate income people build wealth.

Tax preparers are educated on tax credits and help people receive every tax credit for which they qualify. There are 4 ways to be a volunteer:

1. Volunteer Tax Preparers prepare basic tax returns, using Tax Wise software, and file them electronically.
2. Intake Coordinator/Greeters oversee client sign-in and direct them to complementary on-site servicess where available.
3. Quality Reviewers review all tax returns completed by preparers at the tax site.
4. Tax coaches provide support to the taxpayers who are using the Tax Lab- Facilitated Self Assistance sites.

Attend the VITA volunteer training and help families save hundreds of dollars during the 2016 tax season!
