BEYOND A BIGGER PAYCHECK
Financial stability is about weathering the unexpected hardships that happen to almost all of us at some point in our lives. Major car repairs, job loss, illness or hospitalization. These types of events can affect a person’s financial stability. Once we lose our stability and slip into poverty, it becomes even harder to climb back.
In Forsyth County, 1 in 3 children and 1 in 5 of all residents live in poverty.
We help people use their resources effectively. From finding a living wage job to attaining better paying jobs through training and placement, the ultimate goal is to gain and maintain financial stability. 2014 saw 3,000 families receive over $5.3 million in collective refunds through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
