Winston-Salem, NC- United Way of Forsyth County announced today that seven organizations will receive the 2021 Spirit of North Carolina Award. The awardees and categories include Novant Health and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (Post Pandemic Champion), Truist (Campaign/Engagement Success), Caterpillar/Progress Rails (Investment in Long-term Sustainable Impact), Deere-Hitachi Corporation (Building Momentum & Sustainability through Engaged Leadership), the City of Winston-Salem (Leading through the DEI Lens), PepsiCo/Cognizant (Most impactful & engaging kickoff/campaign event).
Moving from response to recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic, each has led the way in meeting community needs through their fundraising, volunteer, and advocacy efforts.
United Way of North Carolina’s annual Spirit of North Carolina award celebrates organizations achieving their campaign excellence through impactful events, engaged leadership, and volunteer engagement. Organizations championing DEI values and post-pandemic rebuilding efforts are also celebrated. On March 1, United Way of North Carolina will recognize 75 winners representing 22 local United Ways across the state.
“The Spirit of North Carolina Award gives United Way of Forsyth County an opportunity to acknowledge organizations who positively impact our neighborhoods,” said United Way of Forsyth County President and CEO Cindy Gordineer. “We applaud each company and organization for being change makers in our community and are excited to honor them on March 1.”
Novant Health & Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (Post Pandemic Champion) were recognized for leading recovery and rebuilding efforts to benefit the community at large. Just a few short miles from each other in Forsyth County, these hospital systems came together to fight against the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“2021 was a year of continued challenges, requiring flexibility and creativity when planning fundraising campaigns,” said Gordineer. “Our heartfelt congratulations to all 2021 Spirit of North Carolina winners for their incredible accomplishments and dedication to United Way.”
