
Winston-Salem, NC- November 2, 2017- United Way Forsyth County Women’s Leadership Council Recognizes Community Leaders at Its 10th Annual Celebration Dinner
The United Way Forsyth County Women’s Leadership Council hosted its 10th Annual Celebration Dinner at the Millennium Center November 1, 2017. Members had the opportunity to celebrate the council’s successes and accomplishments during its 10 years of existence. The Women’s Leadership Council is aligned with United Way’s goal of improving the high school graduation rate from 71% to 90% by 2018.
United Way Forsyth County President and CEO, Cindy Gordineer notes, “We know that a group of empowered women empower others, and it has been exciting to see the successes in our community’s schools that are a result of the Women’s Leadership Council’s efforts. “
United Way Forsyth County Director of Engagement Amanda Rosemann notes, “Members of the UWFC Women’s Leadership Council have seen their contributions impacting our community first-hand, as a result, in the past ten years, we have grown to more than 1,000 members and raised more than $5 million to meet pressing needs in our community.”
At the dinner individuals were recognized for their contributions to the mission of the WLC and community.
Outstanding Volunteer: Alexis Thompson

Outstanding Youth: Jalissa Johnson (8th grade, East Forsyth Middle)
Outstanding Educator: Mr. Dossie Poteat (Principal, East Forsyth Middle)
