100 Years United for Our Future

100 Years United for Our Future

United Way of Forsyth County has undergone many changes over the last 100 years, but one thing has remained constant; its unwavering dedication to our community.

That dedication was the driving force for our organization’s founding on February 6, 1923. A group of dedicated community members, led by C.G. Hill, gathered to raise funds for local needs and named themselves the “Community Chest.”

The original concept was to have one central organization raising funds for many programs within our region – essentially creating a united method for community asset collection and impact.

Several names have recognized our local organization over the years – the Community Chest, United Fund, and finally renamed United Way of Forsyth County nearly 50 years ago.

This year, we have much to celebrate, including YOU! Your leadership, volunteerism, gifts, and voices have made Forsyth better every year. With your help, we are progressing in creating equitable communities, ensuring child and student success, and providing economic mobility to our residents. Thank you!
